Fire in the Sky

This is the first picture I took after getting home from the hospital.  Tom pointed out to me the way the morning light lit up the trees.
So very different from light at any other time of the day.  Add to that the trees still in shadow and you get really dramatic skylines.
I took these propped up against my house.  This trip to the hospital combined  with all my medical problems have made made for a more dramatic recovery.  I am really struggling to gain back my life this time and have decided that I need to take a break and just rest and recover, so I'm taking a few days off and will be back in week or so.
Enjoy

WrittenInc makes you think

WrittenInc is one of my all time favorite blogs.  Carmi posts everyday and he always gives you something to think about.  Today's post posed the question of where do you find comfort when the world doesn't seem to offer any?  Not only does Carmi give his thoughts but the people who comment are also generous with their answers and it makes reading the comments just as thought provoking as his posts.  I left my comment there,

He also does a thematic challenge every week.  This is were his followers can post a post from their blogs depicting his theme.  This weeks thematic challenge is Autumn.

I don't very often post a special post just for his theme; I have been blogging long enough so I can find a post to fit his theme from past posts and this is acceptable for his challenge.

But as I have recently been reorganizing my photos I have come across lots of autumn photos that I don't think I have shared before so I posted on his weekly theme today.  I hope you enjoy them.
 Happy Autumn

Old man winter

Looks like ol' man winter is on his way
Middle of August- in Georgia and Tom pointed this tree out to me this morning
in autumn yellows and oranges.  On the way to church I noticed that it wasn't just one tree in my backyard; there are trees all over town that are already turning colors.  Usually I am able to show off my spring photos earlier than most and am usually late with posting fall photos because of living in the south.  I certainly hope this is not a portent of an early winter.

Enjoy

Autumn Colors

Blanketflower art-edit

Splashes of color 18- Art edit

Autumn wildflower 1
At this time of year everyday brings a change of colors.  The leaves change slowly down here and this year it seems to be slower than usual.  One day you wake to a completely green tree, then maybe a day or two later that tree may have just a couple of colored leaves, then maybe a couple of clumps a few days later and then days later a tree in fall color, looking the way it shouldIn the meantime another tree is doing the same thing but on a different schedule.  Added to that is the fall flowers that are currently blooming.  It is really quite pretty even if the colors are not coming out as they normally do.  I have not been able to get traditional autumn landscapes so I have concentrated on the colorful leaves, especially those that are sunlit. I have also taken the pictures and turned them into art-edits so that I have more than just leaf photos.  Enjoy some of the colors of autumn from Georgia.

Rascal takes me for a walk

The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes
Rascal walks me
Yesterday I woke up in the morning in horrible pain, but in spite of it I was in a good mood after a wonderful weekend of being spiritually feed by watching the LDS conference on TV.  If you want to hear some of the best Christian teachings go to lds.org then go to general conference; there are plenty of talks to choose from.  Right now they are all available to listen to; by Thursday they will be done with transcribing them and they will be available to read.  I like to copy them to Word then highlight in yellow, add my thoughts in parenthesis and in red and add the scriptures.  Actually you can add the scriptures that are referred to by clicking on them before you transfer to Word.  If you would like to do this and are confused by my directions here, please e-mail me at johninayoung@yahoo.com and I will give more complete directions.
Deer Trail (yes we get deer on our property)
Every morning Rascal asks to be walked by me; even if  he has just come in with Tom from doing his business.  He just likes me to walk him where he can sniff the air and investigate to his hearts content.  If you watch 'It's Me Or The Dog' on Animal Planet one of the things the trainer stresses is taking your dog for a walk and not just for doing their business.  It makes for a calmer, more contented dog.  For me it works out the morning stiffness and makes sure I get some exercise.
 Beautiful poison
I did real good till about noon and then the pain started to wear me down.  I can override the pain for a while but eventually the pain drains me.  Curling up and crying sounds good when that happens.  I went to Wal-Mart as a distraction instead.  It didn't work.  I was surprised that it had been so long since I had been out of my neighborhood and how much the trees had changed color in town.  There are more decorative trees in town that change color sooner than the trees out in the woods by where I live.  I'll have to go into town with my camera.
Splashes of color
I've been trying to post every day, but the pain yesterday in spite of a good start just got to be to much.  There are days like that when you have fibromyalsia, especially when the weather changes and we had a cold front move in. When I have a bad day like that I just have to keep in mind there is always tomorrow.  Like the song from the musical 'Annie' 'the sun will come out tomorrow....'

Surgery and simple edits

Today I had surgery, so this is going to be short a sweet. It is also the reason why I didn't do a post yesterday; I decided that going to bed early was better for me than putting up a post. A friend of mine Nicu Liuta said this about being on the website MyShutterSpace "I can't live without this...it's my phototherapy!..." I agree with him whole-heartedly and couldn't have put it better. I just have to add photo taking, photo editing and my blog. I am trying to integrate my goals as I add them and taking care of myself is #1 goal. I must admit that going to bed early and putting up a new post was something of a toss-up; they both do me good. Anyway the surgery was to replace a mal-functioning port. The surgeon took out the bad port from my left side just below my collar bone and put a brand new power port on my right side just below my collar bone. Now both my arms are not working so well and I have to be careful of what I do till it heals. It hurts, too.
I decided instead of doing a complicated edit I would spend more time with a simple edit but spend more time looking at it so I could really finesse it. The results are shown here. The top picture was redone several times before I got a picture I really liked; I didn't settle on the first edit. The bottom picture was also redo several times as I learned how to change the color of the sky. They don't fit in the wow category, but I'm also learning that editing a pretty picture is alright , too.
