These are some of the sketches I've done over the last several years as I've tried to fit some artist endeavours into my schedule. This is just a sample there are actually quite a few others; many more than my mom did. But I was still just trying to fit them in and quite a few of them were done in the hospital. I was well known in the hospital for being the artist lady but not so among my friends and family. It's really kind of sad when I think of it. :^( Well I'm going to get off before I become morose and I don't want this to be a POM (poor old me) blog because for the most part even with my trials I've learned lots and had joy brought into my life. :^)

"We are traditionally rather proud of ourselves for having slipped creative work in there between the domestic chores and obligations. I'm not so sure we deserve such a big A-plus for that."
Since my birthday I have been thinking of many things that I have missed out on due to a life out of balance. I now believe that if I or anybody has to squeeze a creative outlet into thier lives and that creative outlet often or most often loses out to everyday obligations we are much poorer for it. Apparently Toni Morrison figured that out for now she is an internationally known bestselling author. My mom was a very talented artist. She did a couple of drawings while I was little but than life got in the way and it wasn't till I was in my teens that she started taking pictures on vacation. When I went off to college mom took up her drawing and painting again. She hadn't done very many paintings before her paintings started going on tours. Then she got sick and was not able to do much with her talents and not too many years later she died and all that pent up talent and joy on her part went with her.
So here I am close to being an empty nester (the youngest moved back in) and I've got my room for my art work, mom did too, and I'm sick and very limited in what I can do

This being my first post I thought I would let everyone know a little bit about my family, after all my family has contributed a lot to who I am.
Hopefully I have contributed to who they are. This is the only picture we have with all six kids, Tom (my husband for over 30 years) and myself. The baby in my arms (Jeremy) was two weeks old when the picture was taken is now twenty and six foot two inches. He is an Eagle Scout and this fall he starts training to be an EMT. Emily the little girl in red is now a senior in college. (We accept donations) She is studying English lit. and with helping a professor she has her name on her first published paper. Laura is a beautician is married with two little boys, two years and two months. Benn, my middle son, served a two year mission for our church in Brazil. He now is a CPA and working in Atlanta. Sarah, my oldest girl, is married with three kids: boy, girl, boy. She has built her own internet business so she could work at home and be with her kids. Jonathan, our oldest is married and has four kids. He works construction in Arizona and for fun he does sword fighting at Renaissance faires. Tom works for the FAA.
